While getting my normal Orchard manicure, something interesting happened to me. A friend of mine that I hadn’t seen in a long time walked into the spa and greeted me. I hadn’t seen this friend since my days in college, and she had been around the world. First she started traveling for vacation purposes, but while in one country, she was hired because she had skills in media marketing and knew many different foreign languages. I wish I was as skilled as her. I would love to travel around the world like that, but I don’t have the money to do it.
As my friend got her manicure, I talked to her about her travels and she told me how much she loved it, but it was really tiring sometimes because she’s always on the move. Sometimes she would like to just sit back and get a manicure like she was doing at the moment. I guess the statement about the grass being greener on the other side has some truth to it. While I was looking at her life and enjoying it, she was looking at my life and wanting some of what I had. I still say her life is better than mine, but mine isn’t so bad.
After the manicure, my friend and I went to a restaurant to have some lunch while we talked some more. We talked about our husbands and the silly things they do. I told her about my kids, and asked her if she was going to have any. She said she might want some one day, but wasn’t sure if she should because of her traveling all of the time. She wanted to settle down before making a commitment for kids. I understood her point and told her that we should catch up again.
